Nickel Sulphate — High-Purity Electroplating Grade
Also known as: Nickel Sulfate, NiSO₄·6H₂O
Overview
Nickel Sulphate — Product Overview
Nickel Sulphate (NiSO₄·6H₂O, also spelled Nickel Sulfate) is the primary nickel source in Watts nickel electroplating baths and sulphate-based electroforming systems. While Nickel Sulphamate Solution is the preferred electrolyte for low-stress electroforming, Nickel Sulphate is used where a sulphate-based bath is specified or where lower cost is a priority over internal stress performance. Shriji Chemicals® supplies high-purity Nickel Sulphate from our facility at Dahanu Road, Maharashtra.
Applications
Where Nickel Sulphate is Used
Watts Nickel Bath
Primary nickel source in standard Watts nickel electroplating formulations.
Decorative Nickel Plating
Used in bright nickel, semi-bright nickel, and dull nickel plating baths.
Sulphate Electroforming
Alternative to Nickel Sulphamate where internal stress is less critical.
FAQ
Common Questions about Nickel Sulphate
What is the difference between Nickel Sulphate and Nickel Sulphamate?
Nickel Sulphate (NiSO₄) is used in Watts nickel baths and gives higher internal stress deposits. Nickel Sulphamate Ni(SO₃NH₂)₂ gives ultra-low internal stress deposits and is preferred for precision electroforming. For most electroforming applications, Nickel Sulphamate Solution is recommended.
Can I use Nickel Sulphate in a Nickel Sulphamate bath?
It is not recommended — adding sulphate to a sulphamate bath increases internal stress and partially defeats the purpose of using sulphamate electrolyte.
