Overview

Cobalt Sulphamate — Product Overview

Cobalt Sulphamate (also known as Cobalt Sulfamate) is added to Nickel Sulphamate baths to increase deposit hardness through nickel-cobalt co-deposition. Shriji Chemicals® supplies high-purity Cobalt Sulphamate that raises Vickers hardness to 200–500 HV, significantly improving levelling and brightness while maintaining low internal stress — making it the standard choice for security printing, hologram tooling, and precision mould applications across India.

Applications

Where Cobalt Sulphamate is Used

Security Hologram Shims

Cobalt addition hardens holographic shims for longer tool life and sharper definition.

Banknote Printing Cylinders

Harder nickel-cobalt deposits extend cylinder life in high-speed banknote printing presses.

Precision Tooling & Moulds

Used where maximum deposit hardness is required alongside low internal stress.

SIM Card Punch Tools

Harder deposits from nickel-cobalt baths improve punch tool longevity.

FAQ

Common Questions about Cobalt Sulphamate

How much Cobalt Sulphamate do I add to my Nickel Sulphamate bath?

Typically 2–10 g/L cobalt metal in the bath, depending on target hardness. Contact us for specific bath chemistry guidance.

Does Cobalt Sulphamate affect internal stress?

At low concentrations (under 10 g/L Co), internal stress remains low. Higher concentrations increase hardness but may slightly increase tensile stress — bath monitoring is recommended.

Is Cobalt Sulphamate compatible with all Nickel Sulphamate baths?

Yes — it is designed as a direct additive to standard Nickel Sulphamate electroforming baths.
