Overview

Nickel Carbonate — Product Overview

Nickel Carbonate is the preferred reagent for pH correction and nickel ion replenishment in Nickel Sulphamate electroforming baths. Unlike Nickel Hydroxide or Nickel Oxide, Nickel Carbonate reacts cleanly with Sulfamic Acid in the bath to raise pH without introducing chloride contamination — making it the standard choice for all-sulphamate electroforming systems. Shriji Chemicals® supplies high-purity Nickel Carbonate from our manufacturing facility at Dahanu Road, Maharashtra.

Applications

Where Nickel Carbonate is Used

pH Correction

Dissolve in Sulfamic Acid solution and add to bath to raise pH without introducing impurities.

Nickel Ion Replenishment

Replenish nickel ion concentration lost during electroforming without disturbing bath chemistry.

Bath Make-Up

Used in initial bath preparation for all-sulphamate electroforming systems.

Laboratory Electroforming

Preferred by R&D labs for its clean dissolution and minimal side reactions.

FAQ

Common Questions about Nickel Carbonate

Why use Nickel Carbonate instead of Nickel Hydroxide for pH correction?

Nickel Carbonate reacts cleanly with Sulfamic Acid to produce Nickel Sulphamate, water, and CO₂ — no residue, no chloride, no contamination. Nickel Hydroxide can introduce impurities and is harder to dissolve uniformly.

How do I add Nickel Carbonate to my bath?

Pre-dissolve in warm Sulfamic Acid solution (dilute), then add slowly to the bath while monitoring pH. Do not add directly to the bath as solid powder.

What is the correct pH for a Nickel Sulphamate bath?

Typically 3.8–4.2 for most electroforming applications. Consult your process specification or contact Shriji Chemicals for guidance.
